Combi Blinds 101: Effortless Light Control for Your Dining Room – Pasay project
One of the customs of a Filipino family is to share their meals together and at the same time. May it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, all members of the family will be called upon the table to share the meals that have been prepared. Most of the time, this practice shapes the ways of children and is usually something they carry as they grow. This tradition is also rooted in the Filipino values involving family, community, hospitality, and creating a sense of belonging. Whatever you may be doing, you would have to pause doing it to join the rest of your loved ones at the dining table.
More often than not, dining tables are strategically placed in brighter areas of the house, and for many good reasons. As the family and guests will be sharing food, a properly lit area is essential in providing a good meal experience. Natural light does wonders to make the food look more appealing and appetizing, awakening the senses and encouraging excitement to share the meal. Further, natural light also does a good job in making the dining area more inviting and a conducive place for conversations and catching up.

And what better way to improve our dining areas than by matching them with blinds that perfectly accommodate our clients’ preferences? This is what our Pasay client was able to achieve: effortless light control for their dining area by the window.
Today’s blog features combi blinds installed for our Pasay customer. Combi blinds are known for their alternating sheer and solid sheets which are most helpful when clients want flexibility in their natural light intake. The combi blinds for our client were installed for their large floor-to-ceiling window, with the dark-colored sheets complementing the existing furniture and design of their home.
The installation of these combi blinds, aside from being aesthetic, is also of strategic use. While a naturally-lit room is wonderful, and even healthy, during breakfast or brunch, the intense midday sun can create harsh glares and make family members at the table uncomfortable, hot, and prone to risks of eye strain and excessive heat. Similarly, the afternoon sun can also make the dining space less enjoyable. Meanwhile, during dinner, privacy can also become a concern when lights illuminate the space for outside viewing. Fortunately, combi blinds address all these concerns.

By alternating the sheets of the combi blinds, our client could simply diffuse the sunlight entering their dining area during the day, making the space still enjoyable with controlled natural light. When the glare is too harsh, the solid fabric of the blinds could overlap one another to provide full coverage. The same can be done at night, to protect the room and the family members from onlookers.
Dining should be enjoyable and provide an avenue for family members to catch-up before and after busy work or school hours. With the right window treatment, light control and other external factors shouldn’t have to be an issue.
